2. as y'all know, i am exceedingly critical of the American education system. my opinion of it reached a new low on Saturday at approximately 11pm during a conversation with a German in a San Francisco bar.
I double-checked my mental semesters-to-quarters and euros-to-dollars conversions because initially i doubted that American students were actually paying THAT much more for education. American students are being fucked on such a high level relative to German students that initially I thought I must have misplaced a decimal point.
"contact with europeans" has never had such dramatic consequences, except maybe for when Columbus landed or when my high school French Exchange student (Maxime Go.) nailed someone from the Overlake Class of 2005 at one of Kostya Ta.'s par-tays. I'll always remember that Maxime was deathly afraid of dogs.
though the US leads germany in fucking over 20-somethings by refusing to consider them financially independent and making ruinous debt the price of learning unmarketable skills, our gasoline is cheaper than theirs.
